This is an incredible item! I believe it to be a statue of a Greek Athlete or Warrior. It looks like maybe he was a Javelin or Spear Thrower. This is 1 of only 3 ancient statues I bought at an sale a while back. The detail is incredible! You can see his fingernails, toenails, muscles, tendons, blood vessels, his abs, strands of hair, etc. etc. His beard actually is moldedinto his left arm and is draped acrossthe top of his shoulder.
It is made of Bronze and looks like it was cast over a sand mold. You can still see some of the sand inside his eyeballs. This thing weighs about 15 pounds. I studied that the ancient Greek Athletes performed their Olympic Sports in the nude!

He stands a huge 25+ inches in height including the base. The statue itself is over 23 inches tall. It has a large black wooden base with an old felt on bottom. The statue is anchored to the base with what looks like an iron or bronze spire, or rod, sticking out of each foot.
It is very well preserved. No cracks, chips or other damage I can find. I do not know the age or origin of this piece. I have always loved art, especially ancient art...................and Bronzes in particular. I do not have any paperwork on this item, so am selling it as is..................as is the way I purchased it myself.Please feel free to make me an offer. This is the last one of the three statues I had. The other two have already sold. I have lowered the price, so it will hopefully go to someone who will really enjoy it, as we have. Otherwise, the price will only go up from here and I will keep it.This is the most detailed and Anatomically Correct Specimen of a Man Ihave ever seen!
