A large and striking ancient Bronze Age bowl, from the prehistoric Holy Land, dating to approximately 2200 BC.
This low fired earthenware piece, constructed from a vibrant red clay, is typical of the early to middle Bronze Age. The heavy pot stands on a flattened, circular base, the bowl itself with steep walls, a wide mouth and decorated along the body with pinched decoration.
This deep bowl has a strong presence, and recalls day to day life in the ancient Holy Land. Similar examples have been excavated from Bronze Age sites across Israel, Palestine and the Lebanon.
A fantastic ancient display piece.
Diameter: 10 inches.
Height: 5 1/2 inches.
Condition: Good. An area of the rim has been restored from fragments. This restoration could easily be improved and would make a good project for an amateur restorer. Overall a large, decorative piece.
