Up for sale is a wonderful, vintage hand carved and hand painted ANRI \"Sitting Shepherd\" for a 6\" Josef Bachlechner nativity. The detailed carving and coloring are just amazing. The statue is in excellent vintage condition.



The carving is approximately 4.25\" in height and 3\" wide at the base. There are no stamps or stickers located anywhere on the carving.



I am unsure of the exact age of the carving, but my guess would be that it is from the 1970s. Since there is no metal disk on the bottom, the carving was made prior to 1982.



I would consider this statue to in excellent vintage condition. Please note that there is a tiny hole drilled into the base of the statue (into the back), right behind the shepherd\'s left heel. (See photo #10)After viewing severalBachlechner nativity photos in ANRI catalogs, it doesn\'t appear that anything is missing on the carving, so I don\'t know why that hole is drilled in the carving. This is how it was purchased from the original owner, who said nothing was ever missing from the statue.



This Bachlechner Nativity \"Sitting Shepherd\" is just a wonderful carving and I believe it to be quite rare.
