Today we are offering a wonderful pair of antique Jewish Shabbat candlesticks. These candlesticks are crafted from 84 zolotnik Russian silver of .875 purity which is 5% lower than sterling and more akin to coin silver. Standing a towering 13 inches in height, each piece holds a single candle and features elegant touches of ornate wreath styling.The base of each candlestick shows the manufacturer date of 1869 and the makers name alongside the town (illegible). The writing uses the cyrillic alphabet and should be readable by a Russian speaker. The candlesticks display wear in line with the presumed age primarily in the form of light oxidation wax drip residue but no damage or repairs. Please see all pictures for a closer look. This formulation was typical of the mid-1800s. Standing a substantial 13 inches in height, each piece holds a single candle and features elegant touches of ornate wreath styling.The base of each candlestick shows the assay mark with a manufacturer date of 1869 and the makers name alongside the town mark (illegible). The writing uses the cyrillic alphabet and should be readable by a Russian speaker. The candlesticks display wear in line with age, primarily in the form of a few tiny dings and some light oxidation & wax drip residue, but no significant damage or repairs.
