1889 Centennial George Washington Inauguration Cast Iron Cold Painted Axe
Description

For sale is an original cold painted, cast iron souvenir axe that was made for the 1889 Centennial of George Washington\'s inauguration of April 30, 1789. The axe measures; 12-3/4\" long x 5-1/4\" at the blade section. The back has the embossed, raised lettering; \"PAT APL\'D FOR, J.H. WEBB\". There are paint rubs and some rust spots but as you can see from the pictures, it\'s a really great, old piece. It has a curved blade but I don\'t know if it was made this way or if the edge of the head is missing.
