Antique 1891 Victorian William Comyns Sterling Silver Repousse Dresser Tray

Lovely Antique Victorian solid sterling silver dresser tray from William Comyns, c.1891, London, UK.

Rectangular shaped object has rounded corners and is surrounded by a ruffled/crimped rim. Tray\'s interior is full of repousse design showing thick and intricate scrollwork, several flower buds and foliage, two large birds, and five Northwinds figural motifs. A central section of high polish is engraved with a scripted three letter \"M E C\" monogram. Fully hallmarked with standard mark, city mark, date letter, and maker\'s mark on a tiny patch of the tray\'s lower interior.

Tray measures 10 1/4\" Long x 6 3/4\" Wide x 1/2\" Thick.

Piece weighs 7.6ozt or 235 grams.

Good. Item shows wear from general use along with two cracks in the silver edge/sidewalls (notch directly above central monogram at 12:00 [picture ] and on the right side five \"notches\" down from top[picture ]). Both splits effect the sidewalls and stretch roughly 1/4\" to 3/8\" onto the interior tray. Some of the repousse design is darkened in the creases and valleys. Hallmark is not incredibly crisp but is able to be identified. Minor surface scratching on rear.
