This is a great 18th century burl wood mortar. It is untouched and free of shrinkage cracks. In picture 3 you can see where there was a knot which you see a lot in burl wood. It does not go through to the inside, It has good natural patina and measures 6 1/4\" tall and is 6 1/2\" in diameter across the top.
