Description Late 18th - Early 19th century candle lantern found in an 1860s Morristown, NJ house being torn down. The family who lived in this home since the 1930s were collectors of early Americana, so I feel that this was part of their collection. The lantern was built with cattle horn in place of glass. The original candle holder is still present inside. I believe this is an American example, but I am not sure. I could not find an exact match to this form. Condition: Losses to the horn, especially to the piece on the back side. Fraying to top finial, one piece being held on with glue. Three of the horn elements have cracks or small missing elements. The rim at top is being held in place with several clips, appears it has separated at the seam. Measurements:10 1/2\" H x 4 1/4\" W
