This painting is painted by listed and well known Irish Ireland artist Darius J Macegan (1856-1939). Also known as \"The MacEgan\" (he was the last of a line of direct descendents of the chief of clan MacEgan), Darius was born in Roscrea, Co. Tipperary. He studied at the School of Art in Dublin and later in London, and first exhibited at the RHA in 1881.As soon as I stumbled on this gem I knew it was painted by a trained artist. Signed on the top left DJ MacEgan 1903. No damage to painting such as holes or rips. Some crazing in the paint. Frame is in good shape. Paper tag on back was torn and only word seen reads \"head\". Back of canvas is a dirty brown gray color typical of older canvases. Size: Frame- 20\"×15.5\", picture measurement 15.5\" × 19.5\". The entire frame with picture measures 2\" from front to back.
