This is an incredible 110-year-old (or older) German tea set depicting scenes of Jack and Jill going up the hill and then tumbling down it. The earliest reference I have seen for the set is 1904 and the latest is 1918, so it must have been very popular.
Four pieces are included in this sale: one cup, one saucer, one teapot and one tray. The cup, saucer and tray all show the same scenes mentioned above. In addition, all pieces have the nursery rhyme printed on them. The saucer does not have the same imagery; instead, the rhyme is printed on the red center, which is surrounded by a decorative red, green and yellow floral border. The cup and saucer are marked, \"Made in Germany.\"

CONDITION:Cup: There are a number of small areas of paint loss, but the images are still very clear. There is wear on the gold handle and the interior has oxidized.Saucer: There are a number of patches of paint loss on the red center and around the floral border, as well as wear on the gold rim.Teapot:There are a number of small areas of paint loss, but the images are still very clear. There is also paint loss on the red spout. The handle is missing and the interior has darkened with age.Tray: There are a few long scratches on the red background, as well as small areas of paint loss. In addition, there is spotting and some rust, especially noticeable on the grass in the center and along the bottom of the grass on the right. There is some rust, discoloration and a little paint loss on the red 1 1/4\"-wide raised border and wear on the gold rim. There are also some dents, especially on the lower edge of the image on the bottom border.
