1914 Wehman Bros. NY. Small format paperback in color pictorial covers. Scarce dialect and class joke book from the vaudeville era, joke and magic books publisher Wehman Bros. 58, [6] pp. : ill. ; 13 cm. Lettering on spine reads Handy Series # 37. Color cover illustration depicts a bewildered \"bumpkin\" in an urban setting. Rear cover depicts 25 other Wehman humor and magic titles. 6 pages of publisher ads at rear. A very well preserved example with only expected mild toning to page stock and a faint sticker shadow to the lower corner of the title page. Only one example located in US Library and university collections. Scarce and unbelievably rare.Measures 4.75\'\' x 3.75\'\', the cover and back are a bit worn with dog ears, small creases and some tiny rips. The binding is strong but has some wrinkles. As for the inside with the exception of dog ears its in excellent condition. There is a writing in pencil on the first page and very faint at the top of the cover identifying who the book belonged to in case it was lost. Look very carefully at the pics, this book is very old!!!
