Doll Details:

Here she is- a really charming African American walking doll! Frankly, we\'ve seen this type of walking doll before, rather a larger version of a ramp walker, but never this exact lady- she\'s a bit of a mystery woman!

First, she walks by means of a pull string- currently missing but easily replaceable- and attaches by a hook at her hips to the carriage, and hooks at her hands to the carriage handle, which she pushes forward. We\'ve attached the hook to the carriage and pulled it forward, and she walks with a little rocking gait, quite cute. She has never been repainted, though as you can see, there is quite a bit of fading and paintloss, and a good deal of crackling to the paint that remains; one crack to a foot which doesn\'t impede the walking. Her costume is the original. The rubber or compo carriage is in similar condition, with fading throughout, and the top\'s hinge corners are gone (so sorry, no photo of this); though to make up for that there is a vintage (though possibly not original) pillow and tiny doll pillowcase (not original but older), very cute.

A really nifty piece of Black Americana- we do think she represents a long-ago comic character, but aren\'t quite sure who!

Please check our other sales, as we have a small but select group of other vintage items and antique dolls up for sale this week!

Kindly Take a Moment and Read This Before offerding:

Marionettejilly is not a big ol\' corporation. We are actually pretty nice folks, with an interest in antiques, fighting upstream against inflation and the economy just like everyone else. In the rare event that there is a problem with an item, just sit back, take a deep breath, and tell us about it calmly. We have not set out to scam you. Chill. All the policies below are just because a couple of folks in the past decided to be meanies. We know you\'re not like that- we certainly aren\'t.

Here at Marionettejilly, we try to be accurate with our descriptions- but we aren’t perfect, and we may have missed something that’s important to you-- so ask before an sale ends! We sell mostly vintage and antique items, with wear and the ravages of time as to be expected.

Do not expect our vintage items to be in new or like new condition- many of our items are fragile, played with, and many are over 100 years old.

AND---- many of our items have been in storage for years,so if you are allergic to dust, or sensitive to certain scents or smells, we do not recommend purchasing vintage items.Use your own good common sense, and expect an item to have a unique patina and history all its own- with imperfections inherent in antique pieces!

Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 10am to 5 pm, Eastern Standard Time. We cannot answer emails unless they come through the message system- this protects both parties. Emails received after these hours will be answered as promptly as is possible on the next business day. Please do not expect a response during the weekend- with any luck we are out doing something fun, far far away from the computer!

We do not pay return shipping regardless of the reason for return.

Forgive us if we sound somewhat exasperated at this point in time, but just so there is no possible misunderstanding of our policy, we repeat:

We do not pay return shippingregardless of the reason for return.

does not support buyers\' requests for return shipping- please do not ask.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO NOT OFFER PARTIAL REFUNDS FOR ANY REASON.

There are no exceptions to this policy, and we will report unscrupulous buyers. In fairness to other watchers, we do not end sales early.

And, as a final note to the patient people who have bothered to read everything so far: Sorry if we sound crabby. Sometimes people can be so petty and unreasonable it can break your heart. We\'ve had a run of really awful experiences this season- let\'s hope it ends soon, before we lose the rest of our hair, our jolly perspective on life in general, and our much-needed sense of humor!!!
