Beautiful antique 19th Century French gilt wood armchair purchased in Paris during the 1960\'s. This chair has been in a private home since being moved to the U.S. I am selling it for a elderly friend who is downsizing.
The chair is 41 12 inches tall, 26 wide and 23 1/2 inches deep. It is comfortable to sit on. The rectangular back frame has egg and dart beading bands with a center ribbon bow on the crest. There are also floral and leaf pierced carved swags across the top of the padded back. The padded arms have carved acanthus leaves on scrolled hand rests and arm supports. The tapered bundle reed legs have foliate carved blocks at the apron of the seat which has carved leaf bands. It is upholstered in a pale blue green (sea foam?) silk brocade with white and pink floral sprigs with green leaves. It has a double cord trim.
This chair is in good condition. It was used in an entryway with the 19th century gilded Louis XVI style oval table on our other sale.
