Icon, Appearance of the Bogolyubskaya Mother of God, 18th CThe oversized figure of the Mother of God holds an extended scroll inscribed with a didactic text and appears to a group of kneeling Church Fathers, all wearing the episcopal ‘omophorion’, complemented by a head cover representative of their rank. Three figures on the second row do not carry head covers, and the last one does not bear the bishop stole either. In the background of the composition, there is an image of a church, whereas the open skies on the upper right corner of the painting reveal Christ blessing and addressing the saint via the text, which appears on his scroll. Saint Chrysostom, the archbishop of Constantinople, and Barbara are depicted to the sides. Condition The icon is in good condition, showing minor cracks in the wood and paint flaking to the edges.
