We are listing today for your consideration a great Antique late 19th Large Oil on Canvas Portrait Painting of a Young Woman Religious Nun Sitting. This painting is in Excellent Condition with 1 very small dot repair to the canvas with touch up to the paint, this is at the lower left area of her dress. There is 1 very slight indent to the canvas at the left of her head and there is crazing throughout the painting. The back center stretcher board has caused 2 faint horizontal craze lines at her midsection. The upper left corner shows some slight creases to the canvas from when stretched. All is 100% secure and sound. There is slight wear to the wood gilded frame. You can refer to the pictures we guarantee 100% you will be more than happy with the excellent condition. The painting measures 39 3/8\" x 31 3/8\" x 1 1/2\" at the outer wood frame, the showing stretched and tacked canvas measures 35 1/2\" x 27 1/2\" and together with frame weighs approximately 7lb 10oz. The painting is signed at the back lower canvas area, Porchester, this is what we make out, not sure if it\'s an artist or something with the reframing of the painting. The wood frame is newer, has stamped Made In Italy, the canvas is secured to it with the staples. Wonderful portrait of a Young Woman, we believe a Italian Nun, with contrite or serene look, her eyelids are downward, she is clutching a handkerchief in her right hand, wonderful period dress with a white head dress, you can see the darker designs on her dress and the armrests of the chair.
