This is an antique 3/4L German Beer stein made by Merkelbach & Wick for Mainzer-Aktien Bier. The stein says \"Schielspreis gewonnen Radkeller zu Main\" and appears to be made for some type of event. The Mainzer-Aktien Bierbrauerei was founded on October 22, 1859 in Mainz, Germany. The brewery was in operation until 1982. This stein appears to be the winning prize for the event. The pewter lid of the stein also has the same emblem and the name of the beer as well as the person who won the prize, \"Lorenz Assmann\". (A great name for a license plate as in the Seinfeld episode). The inscription reads \"S/l Lorenz Assmann Chr. Dinges\". There is an old note that was inside the stein from a former collector that says \"paid $25, worth $275-$280. I\'m unsure of how old the noteis, butthe owner appears to have sketched the Merkelbach & Wick emblem from the bottom of the stein, which I thought was kind of cool.
The stein measures 8\" tall and is in mint conditionwith no chips, cracks,hairlines or pewter damage.
