Antique American Sterling Silver Theodore Starr Footed Tea Caddy Urn

Description

A classic beauty! Elegant sterling tea caddy. Beautifully proportioned. Two pieces - the octagonal base with four feet and the lid with finial. Script monogram on one panel.

SIZE: Measures about 5 7/8\" to the top of the lid finial. Width is about 3 3/8\". Weighs about 265.5 grams or about 8.54 TROY ounces.

MARKS: Marked on underside of base as shown in photos - full Theodore B. Starr, New York marks. Dates to late 19th century/early 20th century.

CONDITION: Old or Antique item in GREAT condition. There is one spot on the flat top of the base with a very very faint impression - you will have a very hard time finding it. I gave the piece a quick polish, but please expect some tarnish. Once polished, I found a few miniscule little marks - a few tiny pinhead size impressions, some light scratches and the like - but nothing of any serious consequence. It has these few miniscule flaws, but presents like mint. This piece is from the collection of a reknown mid-20th century silversmith; adhesive remains of his inventory sticker are inside the lid as shown in photo.
