Presented is a wonderful pair of antique polychrome bronze statue bookend dating to 1914. It is signed by the artist – S. Morani (Salvatore Morani). This is a depiction of a young cherub boy seated. He is reclined and reading a book. Title is “Cherub Reading”. This pre Art Deco bookend dates to the earlier period of foundry use of the bronze-clad process. The overall design is stunning and representative of the period. The statue has a cloth felt bottom and an old sticker that reads – “Armor Bronze”. The piece is quite heavy and appears to be in good condition for the age. There is very minor damage at the back corner of 1 statue (see pic).. These are highly decorative pieces and very detailed. The bookends measures 6.3\" tall, and the base measures 5.8\" by 4.5\". It weighs approximately 3 lbs. Shopmark cast into the side \"Circle in a Shield\" (Armor Bronze); also marked on the side \"S. Morani\" (sculptor).
