This is a really fabulous gilt sterling silver spoon...it could be a dessert spoon .. then again it may be for some other occasion as it has a most wonderful design on both the back and front of the handle.
FLOWERS - 2 BIRDS - 2 SNAKES - CORNUCOPIA design... with the same on the back and in the cartouche a LIVERY armorial family crest of a BIRD stood on a BUCKLE ...the bird is probably a bird of prey type.
The hallmarks are on the back of the bowl.... London 1874 with a love heart FH makers mark which is FRANCIS HIGGINS.
It is nearly 7 inch long x 1 and half inch wide spoon bowl...it weighs approx....62grams.
