Antique Australian 9ct gold Red Stone and Seed Pearl Brooch Willis

This beautiful antique Australian piece is in good condition.

The brooch is marked to the back with the mark used by T Willis and Sons Pty Ltd of Melbourne. It is a mark which predates the marks used by members of the Manufacturing Victorian Jewellers Association. Shown in the book titled \'Australian Jewellery\' by Anne Schofield and Kevin Fahey as the first of two marks used by Willis. It shows the unicorn stamp of Willis, 9 for the purity and a W. The second mark confirms with the Jewellery Association standard mark and exchanges the W for a sheath of wheat. As with most Willis brooches there is a steel pin to the back secured with a C type catch.
There are faint scratches from use, one to the edge of the central stone which has taken a tiny fragment of a chip when it occurred. I have tilted the brooch to allow this to be seen in the photos. The brooch is 59mm x 11mm and weighs 3.99gms.
