Pair of Antique Chinese bronze/brass vases / urns, one has a crack and one little serpent leg missing (see photos). In need of cleaning, but I am not a specialist, so did not attempt. I had them for years, got at an antique fair. Covered with SUPERB etching so whatever vases I saw at , this etching does stand out.
There is a possibility that these vases, or at least one of them which went damaged, were used as cremation urns. why I think so - the damaged vase does not have a single dent on it, but to acquire crack like the one it has, there should be either strong mechanical impact (no dents though), or explosion inside. Good possibility that it was overheated inside (with ashes) and this is why it cracked.
