I purchased this Eppelsheimer & Co. (New York) chocolate mold from a gentleman in Monroeville, PA. This chocolate mold, and many others, belonged to his father who was a confectioner in Monroeville, PA (a suburb of Pittsburgh). This mold was used in his father\'s shop, Dannys Candies, 3828 Wm. Penn Hwy., Monroeville, PA. As his father has died, the shop no longer exits. However, the building that housed the shop still stands and is now a Sears appliance store. The father started out with a donut shop and then expanded to making hard candies and molded chocolates.

Eppelsheimer & Co., New York, circa 1880 to 1947, manufactured this chocolate mold. Eppelsheimer was acquired by William H. Warren in 1910. It became the largest manufacturer of chocolate molds in the United States. The name changed in the 1940s to Eppelsheimer & Co., Warren Bros. The firm was then acquired in 1947 by The American Chocolate Mould Co. See the Eppelsheimer hallmark on the mold as well as the mold number: 4045.
