Here is a gorgeous antique silk dress from the 1860s-1880s. It is a three piece ensemble made in a delicate striped silk with embroidered acorns and oak leaves on it. The corset top is an almost off the shoulder piece which fastens up the back with hook and eyes. It has boning in the front. The jacket also hooks in the front with hook and eyes. The jacket has amazing pagoda sleeves with pointed cuffs and brocade trim. The corset top also has beautiful trim on the sleeves. The skirt is longer in the back and lined on the underside with muslin. The entire thing is mostly hand stitched but I do see some of what looks to be machine stitching. The entire ensemble is in AMAZING condition. It is made of a very light delicate silk and it is entirely intact. There are a handful of tiny pin holes and a few very light stains but the piece is completely wearable and displayable. This is a museum quality piece and in fact it has been loaned to an exhibition of Civil War fashion in Kansas City. The piece has tags sewn in with the name Ann Byers, who loaned the piece to be exhibited. This was the granddaughter of the original owner of the dress. The family had lived in the same house in Kansas and found several trunks in the basement when they finally moved. The trunks were filled with antique dresses, scarves, etc...they were kept in immaculate condition by being stored away from the elements for so many years. Feel free to email any questions.
