This white porcelain reticulated compote with cherub is actually a two piece compote, the compote dish and Cherub are joined together as shown in photos. Overall height 9\".The reticulated basket compote dish is 2\" H X 6 1/2\" W with 6 well formed delicate hand modeled roses, rose buds and leaves attached along the exterior. The cherub is 7\" H. and is shown draped in fabric and holding up the compote piece. The ornate cherub base is 4 1/2\" D with 5 large well formed roses and many delicate leaves.The compote and cherub base are marked with blue crossed lines and the compote has red numbers painted identifying the design M 315-W.
I researched the crossed blue lines using several books on identifying porcelain marks and on-line resources that show the mark to be early, pre-1900 Voigt Bros./Sitzendorf. Condition: Very good with only one rose petal chipped on the compote dish.
