Here we have an Antique EARLY 1800\'s Brass European Style Monocular Compound Microscope. This antique microscope has no Maker marks but has the style and bass configuration of an early 1800\'s European model. The cast iron tripod foot has a very French type of styling. The black japanned iron tripod-like base is 5\" x 4\". The main support tube is attached to the base via a brass hinge that allows the scope to be inclined. The brass stage is 1-5/8\" x 2-1/8\" and has a fancy brass slide clip attachment. It also has two additional holes for a stage forceps and/or mirror. There is a large hole in the stage for light to be reflected up from the mirror below. There is a brass central main tubular limb that is 4\"L through which the 1-1/4\" brass-cased swinging mirror is attached. This same central main tubular limbcarries the stage. There is a milled-head pinion on the main tube and a corresponding rack on the internal lifting tube which retracts into the main tube. The attached brass arm is 2-3/8\"L and is attached to the lifting tube with a screw. The brass body tube is 6\" L x 1\" and has a threaded end that screws into the arm. The R&P works as it should with no slop. Focusing is performed using the one large knurled brass knob. The scope comes with one unmarked eyepiece and one unmarked objective both of which appear to be in very good condition. The microscope stands 11-1/2\" Tall at its lowest setting and 13-1/4\" at the highest setting.
You also get a very nice antique \'Live Box\' which was used to observe live insects or other specimens. The top collar with glass lifts off to allow placement of the specimen and then you push the collar back on to the frame. The Live Box frame is 3/4\" x 2-1/2\" and the top collar/glass is 5/8\"
\'Apologies\' - None.
