Great turn of the century penny match dispenser and cigarcutter. Heavy cast iron piece that belonged to my father and has been in storagefor many years. It has the original paint and I have made no attempt to restoreor clean. The “PUSH” slide moves freely from side to side with each pennyinserted, locking on the opposite side once the action is completed. Cigarcutter moves smoothly. Back disengages cleanly. Glass in inventory windowsintact. Rubber feet intact.
The front shows a picture of a fish with the words “THE SCUP” “MATCHES ₵1 1₵. I see no markings indicating its make or origin although from researching it appears to be a Sellem made by the Northwestern Novelty Co. of Morris, Illinois. Measures approximately 13.5” tall x 6.5”wide x 7” deep. Weighs about 8 pounds.
