Antique Large Round Japanese Antimony Embossed Copper Trinket/Jewellery Box.Dating possibly late 19th century but likely 1900 - early 20th century on research.
A large and impressive example, richly decorated the lid is embossedwith a quite flamboyant Cockatiel/Parrot surrounded in foliage and flowers.The sides have triangular panels with birds and flowers alternating.The sides have more of the silvering effect remaining.A lovely original blue silk like lining to the interior, which is slightly padded.There are a few little marks and slight discolouration to the material from time and age.A slight dent to the edge of the lid, to the right of the bird.Nice quality item and quite heavy, weighing just over 1 kg.
Measuring -15cm in diameter or approx 6 inches,and approx 6cm in height.
