SELECTIVE READERS ....make sure you read ALL the description and LOOK at all the photographs which enlarge BEFORE putting in your offers or buying the item.
This is a Georgian era free blown wine bottle in the SQUAT ONION shape.
It is English and not Dutch going by the style of the base, the pontil and the type of neck it has.
As you will be able to see it has a hole in it.... as well as pock marks on the glass at the opposite side to the hole.
It will be of interest to someone that is into the EVOLUTION of the wine bottle and manufacturing process of the variations of the wine bottle.
A really nice sheared off top and the hand applied string rim... it has chips and flakes at the neck and mouth.

It may have had a SEAL on it where the bit of glass is broken from the side.
You can see the distinct percussion point of what it has rolled onto when thrown away.. it has the star type shape cracks going from it which a couple go down towards the base as well as the ones which have gone up over and burst the chunk out of the bottle side....what a pity as this is a very nice Squat Onion shape.... you will like this one even though its well knackered... it s worthy of being in a collection with complete bottles for sure.

Holding it up to the bright light .. I can see it is mucky inside and you can see the residue of dampness inside over the years... and its a dark olive green glass.
The \" pock \" marks on the opposite side to the hole.. these you find on this early black glass... if you are into such bottles you will KNOW what I mean and you will have seen it beofre.. anyone not into it.. please LOOK at the photographs which enlarge...its sort of worn the surface of the glass away which may have been an air bubble on the surface or its got some contamination of something in the tip next to it.. a couple of the marks have rust stain in and around them... this may be eating the glass away.. who is to say!? It has a nother persussion mark on the back which has caused the inner glass to crack and bruise under the surface.
It has some really nice air bubbles and natural inclusions in the glas from when it was made... the way the neck is formed with the striation lines of being blown is very nice and the slightl;y off set neck is nice. A small ring pontil scar too .... in the kickup.. its sharp to the fingers.
It is mucky inside and could do with a good clean but do be carefull when you do this as the glass type is fragile....if you are like me.. and you dont mind that too much I would leave it alone.. and just put it on the shelf with the collection of Sealed Onions & Mallets.

It is just over 5 inch tall x nearly 4 and 1/2 inch widest body part x 1 and 1/2 inch dia pontil scar in the base x 3 and a 1/4 inch dia base rim where its worn from being picked up and put back down........it weighs approx....466 grams.
