This is a very attractive antique sterling silver hair receiver that is decorated with repousse flowers.
In Victorian and Edwardian times, a lady would collect the hair from her hairbrush and put it in one of these dressing table hair recievers. She would then use it to make hair jewelry such as necklaces, earrings, watch chains etc.
It stands 3.25\" tall, is 3.2\" across the base and weighs 150 grams, 5.3 ounces.
It is in excellent condition for it\'s age with only the lightest signs of wear and just a couple of tiny dents in the base.
The receiver is marked on both halves with English hallmarks from Birmingham with a date cypher for 1911.
