A wonderful food mold to add to your collection. Rather than just admiring it as a visually interesting object, the cook might actually use it because the inside appears as though it most likely is clean enough. There is ribbing on the inside and the top is in the shape of a flower.
A date mark indicates 1868: The diamond mark was issued by the British patent office between 1842 and 1883. The diamond shows that the object was designed, registered and copyrighted in Britain. There are various tables for thecodes within the diamond. I am fairly certain that the date mark indicates July of 1868. X was also used for an earlier date, but that was with a different format. Other marks are NO 18 and Quart.
There is a condition problem which I think could be repaired.A previous repair to the bottom of the central tube has broken off. There is a jagged crack that needs to be filled. For display I think it could be reinforced withsomething like putty applied to the inside of the mold, however it might need a professional repair or soldering in order to actually use the item as a food mold.
