Description:Presented for your consideration is this early antique railroad lantern. The lantern has a metal top and bottom with a clear glass fixed globe. Metal base and top have punched out stars and diamonds for ventilation and there is a fixture at the top to attach a handle. Unfortunately the handle is missing on this lantern. Oil/kerosene pot can easily be removed via the pinch tabs on the bottom of the lantern. This lantern has an unusual burner with metal sides and glass top with a cone shaped wick housing. Adjusting knob turns with ease and is marked with \"E. Trittin. Pat. Mar. 31 1863.\" According to the patent information this burner was to be used with coal oil. No maker markings are on the lantern. This interesting lantern would make a great addition to any railroad memorabilia or lantern collection!
Some bending around the top of the burner. A small piece of metal is missing near the top of the lantern. Some minor wear from age and use. Overall in VERY GOOD condition. Please refer to the photos for the best details.
Measures 5 5/8\" in diameter and 12 1/2\" tall.
