This a stunning pair of antique French lorgnette opera glasses, by an unknown maker and inscribed: \"M. W. Lee. Briarfield Manor Road Cheadle Hulme.\". This pair was made out of gold-plated brass frame and beautiful floral guilloche enamel. The enamel on the barrels is in great shape, but there is a piece of enamel chipped of on the end of the handle, where the handle comes in contact with the brass ring. Eyepieces screw cover and the tip of the lorgnette are covered with white mother of pearls and a tiny piece is chipped off on the inside of one of the eyepieces (not easily noticeable). All four lenses are original and this pair is still totally functional. The magnifying mechanism works smoothly and the telescoping handle extends well. These wonderful opera glasses would make a great gift for someone who is a frequent theatergoer and / or a collector of antiquities.Measurements in inches: 3.625 across, 1.5 (retracted) / 2.0 fully extended, 0.825 eyepiece, 1.125 object lens / handle: 4.0 retracted / 6.5 fully extended
