All of the old original sewing implements remain with this lovely early 1800s mechanical \"egg\" casket, which is quiet rare. The set includes:
Scissors, Timble, Needle case, Stiletto and Bodkin
The ornamental top is the lever, and pushed downward, it releases the catch that then opens the egg-shaped upright etui to reveal its contents. These were made with perfume vials, sewing sets, sometimes as holder for cigars, and numerous other uses, including just plain, so it\'s always a surprise when we find them, to see how it\'s fitted. These would have been marketed originally from the boutiques of the old Richelieu Palace in Paris, more simply referred to as the Palais Royal.
