I do not believe the cage is original to the fan. Even though it is painted black in the front it is most assuredly brass. The fan works but needs some attention. When connected and plugged in you have to pull out quiet hard on the switch to make it run. I do not know if the switch is repairable or if it needs a new one. The back side of the cage is some sort of metal not brass. I was told that this is common if someone did not have original cage.

Fan has 4 brass struts that attach to the back of fan. The badge is one of the first to use the GE emblem such as this. If you have any questions about what is written on the brass band which bares the description and date please feel free to ask.
