This beautiful sterling silver pint mug was crafted by the renowned Newcastle silversmith John Langland I. The mug is fitted with an impressive S scroll handle, incorporating a plain thumb piece. The handle is struck with the maker\'s mark, as expected. Full hallmarks are struck under the rim of the mug, some showing signs of wear in keeping with the age and location of the marks, but are still legible. The foot and flared rim of the body are encircled with tooled bands for decoration. It has a beautiful baluster shape with detailed chasing on the body. The cartouche is not engraved. The original gilding is on the interior. I see no dents, and only minor surface blemishes for an original mug of this age (1795).Diameter of the rim is 3 1/8\"
