Antique German Metal Crochet Hooks / Needles in Leather Encased Wooden-Paper Case. Case is marked \"PATENT\" with a 5 petal flower inlaid on the top section. Stamped in the wood on the inside is \"Gesetzlich geschutzt\" ( which translates to \'registered\'). This case likely dates to the turn of the 19th / 20th centuries. On the back in pencil is marked \"1804 84\".Spaces for 8 needles but only 4 remain. The case is leather around paper around a wood core. Case is 5 1/2\" x 2\" x 1/3\" thick. Needles / hooks are 5\" long. Evidence of wear mainly on edges and middle bottom has ~1\" of leather missing with a couple of holes in the inner paper where the needles poked through. Minor stains on leather jacket (adds character).This antique case and needles are very rare - I have not been able to find anything like it on the internet or elsewhere; let alone for sale.
