A Hertwig snow baby with a lot of action! This baby is being chased and nipped in the heel by what seems to be a small dog -- maybe a Scottie? Like so many of Hertwig\'s accompanying small animals, it\'s difficult to tell for certain what this one is meant to represent. The piece was made in the 1920s or 30s and is a little under 2\" high. This piece has seen its share of cleaning during it\'s 80+ years. It may well have been used repeatedly on English Christmas cakes and carefully washed in between Christmases. It\'s a nice way to better appreciate the paint loss. I am always happy when no one has decided to add paint, particularly to the facees of these pieces. Look how adorable this face is. The original artists knew what they were doing. No chips or breaks, just a little paint loss.
