DESIGN

Up for your consideration isthis stunning vintage Germantown Chimayo blanket/rug.

Begun in the early years ofthe twentieth century, this style is basically two stripes and a center design.The stripes are clearly derived from the Rio Grande blanket, and the centerdesign is an outgrowth of Saltillo tapestry techniques.

The \'Whirling Logs\' dates thisblanket to sometime in the early 20th century, as the image was no longer usedby the weavers after the 1930\'s due to the desecration of this symbol of \'wellbeing\' by Nazi Germany.

Dimensions: 70" x46" approx. without fringe.

The blanket has some damagethat has been repaired and I have tried to show it clearly in the pictures,there are also some darker areas that would perhaps benefit from a professionalcleaning. Overall very good condition for its age.
