This opulent opera coat was created using the totally intact and surviving part of an antique heavily hand embroidered antique tapestry. The groundfabricis black silk and all the embroidery is done with gold metallic thread. The gold panel accent down thefront is also silk and was used in the lining as well. The coat can be worn closed with a standup short collar or open wide or minimally (see photos for the variations). The cuffs can be folded or not depending on whether you want the gold accent or prefer it all black. Wear it over a gold slip dress or a black silk blouse and pantsandmake an entrance. There are no hooks to allow for the style variations and it looks wonderful with a brooch which can be used to close it where ever you want. The condition is excellent with some gold threads missing here and there (the textile is more than 100 years old) and some threads that need tacking. It is about a size Medium (measurements below).
