This is an antique hinged burl wood / Birdseye Maple wood snuffbox or cigarette case.

I am uncertain as to exactly how old it is, but it definitely has very good age.

It measures 3 1/4 inches wide by 2 7/8 inches deep by 1/2 inch high (8.25 cm x 7.3 cm x 1.27 cm).

I believe this box is Russian, based on similar examples I’ve seen.

In addition to being a snuff box or cigarette case, it would be great just for holding trinkets or coins.

The box has a number of tiny scratches and dings to the entire surface. The wood is chipped off on top at the two hinges. The bottom has some excessive wear to the finish, including a large dark stain and a smaller dark stain along with some other smaller stains. Simply put, the other box is in much better condition.

It weighs 1 ounce (26 g).
