This rare exceptional piece was acquired by Bertha, (the founder of Church-WomanAntiques) on a 1940’s pilgrimage to the Holy land. It was a gift (with several others) from Bishop Luigi (Aloysius) Barlassina, who was based in Jerusalem at the time, and appears in the posted picture. This cross is said to contain earth from the area that surrounded the cross of Jesus.

It is on sale to help out several Carmelite Convents we work with in SouthAmerica.

The cross is 1.5 inches hanging length, and it is an undisturbed bronze Byzantine Empire reliquary. It isin superb antique condition, and is a one-of-a-kind relic. This is all theinformation we have; based on my mother’s inventory notes. The reliquary does not have its original authentic, and is strictly for private devotion.
