Antique Imperial Russia Romanoff glass egg with rare silverplate figural stand:
$249.00

This is an Imperial Russian antique presentation egg with a unique, silverplated figural stand of a child. The stand is numbered and signed silverplate underfoot. The ruby glass egg, is carved and gilt. The front has the double headed eagle, coat of arms of the Imperial Russian Romanoff Dynasty. The back of the egg has the wreath and crown of Nicholas ll, the last Russian Tsar\'s monogram.
From my research, I believe this style was used from 1883 until 1917. The Tsar and his entire family were executed in 1918. These eggs were a traditional gift, given by Nicolas ll, the last tsar, to his most trusted subjects. Eggs were used in Russia, because they symbolized new life and love. I have never seen one with such an ornate stand. It maybe a representation of Nicholas ll, as a boy.
