Summary
Offered is this fine antique Solid 84 Zolotnik (.875) Silver and gold cigarette case by the 3rd Artel of St Petersburg, who frequently worked with Faberge and were renowned for their exquisite and outstanding work. This piece features beautiful guilloche engine turned decoration to the body and is fitted with gold mounts, and a sapphire set gold thumbpiece. This piece was almost certainly given as a gift by Grand Duke Kirill Vladimirovich of Russia, the grandson of Tsar Alexander II, who upon the revolution of 1917 assumed headship of the Imperial Family of Russia. Inside the box is the original card of Le Grand Duc Cyrille de Russie, from the Spring Meeting of Cannes 1914.
