Antique Incised Shell Buttons, with gold luster

These antique shell buttons are absolutelyexquisite! Each button has been incised and decorated by hand with afloral motif. Gold luster fills theincised designs and the result, as you can see, is just beautiful! All three came from an antique gown made inthe 1860’s. They appeared to match perfectlywhen I had them on the dress but upon close inspection one is clearly darkerand actually a bit thicker than the other two.Perhaps it has an overlay? I knowwax was used to effect different looks . . . in any case, it’s stunning as arethe other two pieces. One of the “lighter”buttons you’ll note has a bit of luster loss.All three are clearly iridescent and appear to be made from abalone shell(see the picture of the backs; the “dark” button is in the upper right ofthis shot). The sides have a bit of giltcolor as well. These buttons are awonderful find & ready for your immediate use and enjoyment! They will be packaged and shipped with greatcare!

Keep in mind that these buttons arequite old and are hand-crafted. Imperfections and small differences arepart of their unique beauty.
