ANTIQUE ISLAMIC OTTOMAN KORAN BOX CASE SILVER NIELLO ARABIC CALLIGRAPHY 1900:

Antique, unusual Islamic Koran box - Turkey, Ottoman era, circa 1880-1900.
The box is made of a silver alloy, we do not know the silver content since it is not hallmarked it can be from 50-80% however the Black niello enamel is finely done and suggests a high-level object.
One side is decorated with a crest of various weapons and an inscription in Arabic calligraphy - the Ottoman crest also contains a crescent moon - the other side a 6-point star.
The sides and slide-lid are decorated with a checkered pattern
Good condition for the age - small hole at bottom corner - please view detailed pictures.
It measures 10.6 wide x 9 cm tall x 2 cm thick - weight is 182.5 grams.
