Description: Thisis a15 pieces set of Japanese Satsuma teaservice with 6 teacups, 2 saucers, 6 dessert plates, 1 teapot, 1 creamer, and 1 sugar bowl. Eachis decorated with detailed hand paint of many different colored flowers, then highlighted with lot of gilt.

The bottoms of each piece is marked with the Shimazu family crest, above the artist signature (another \"zan\" out of too many). In my early years of collecting, I\'ve read somewhere on the net that Satsuma wares with the Shimazu crest is produced in the original Satsuma region under the official sanction of the Shimazu family, versus Satsuma ware produced from independent shops or kilns elsewhere in Japan. Perhap, it\'s true at least in the old time of Daimos. Now, however, I cannot find this reference.

Dimensions:

Teapot - Height from bottom to lid is 4\", Length from handle to spout is 8\", Width is 5.75\", and weight is 1 lb 2.8 oz.
Sugar Bowl - Height from bottom to lid is 3.5\", Length from both handles is 5.25\", Width is 5\", and weight is 10.2 oz.
Creamer - Height from bottom to lid is 3.5\", Length from handle to spout is 5.5\", width is 4.5\", and weight is 10 oz.
Teacup - Height is 2\", Length from handle is 4\", diameter is 3.4\", Weight is 3.8 oz.
Saucer - Diameter is 5\", Weight is 3.4 oz.
Dessert Plate - Diameter is 6.25\", Weight is 6.4 oz.

Condition: Teapot lid shattered but repaired and a tiny chip on one desert plate. No other damage is found.
