This is an antique late 1800’s / early 1900’s Station Of The Cross from an early Detroit Russian church. It is the 5th Station, with Simon helping Christ Jesus carry The Cross. It is done in Byzantine style glass Mosaic, with brilliant gold background and incredible detail to figures (see images). Amazing quality mosaic art that would likely be impossible to recreate today. It measures approximately 20”x28”x2” thick (68 lbs weight). It is in as-found condition, with an old crack repair and replacement left-side molding (see images / some tiny tile losses as shown).
