This antique, Victorian Era, Strong Box appears to be solid iron likely from the late 1800s. Although this box is unmarked, it resembles a well-made FRENCH safe, possibly a Beaumont. I am not an expert but there appears to be some writing on the bottom but, even with a magnifying glass, I could not decipher. The box exterior is in original condition; inside might have been re-painted. The exterior patina is very nice; the key and lock work fine. It is a large box measuring approximately 11.75\" in length, 9\" in depth and 4.25\" in height. The box weighs about 12 pounds. Please refer to the photos I have included.
