Antique Late 19th C Ornate Gold Gilt Portrait Frame Liner 27 X 32 Opening:
$95.00

This is a very good looking antique late 19th century ornate gold gilt portrait frame liner.

It dates circa 1890s.

Overall it measures 30 3/8 inches x 35 1/8 inches (77.2 cm x 89.2 cm). The back opening size measures 27 1/4 inches x 32 inches (69.2 cm x 81.3 cm). The molding width measures 1 3/4 inches (4.5 cm).

This frame was originally an interior liner to a larger frame. The outer edges are unfinished wood and have the holes from the nails where it originally would have sat into the larger frame.

It has its original old square cut nails, but someone reinforced it with round nails later on.

It has some damage to it. The top middle section of the gilding is worn about 6 inches (15.2 cm) across, leaving a light orange color. The bottom right corner has about 5 inches across of wear. I believe the small pieces in that corner were reglued back on and touched up. In the middle of the long piece of molding on the left, there are two tiny holes, which I believe were caused by the nails holding in a title to the painting.

You can see many of the lines where the gold gilding was layed. It\'s developed a beautiful patina.

It has no glass.

Even though this was a liner, I feel it still stands on its own as a frame.

It would be great for an old oil painting, drawing, folk art work, sampler, fraktur, silhouette, etc.

It weighs 4 pounds 3 1/2 ounces (1.92 kg).

It has what I always look for in frames, that wonderful old world look!
