Up for offers is thisAntique Late 19thC Japanese Satsuma Signed Iris Floral Bowl. Measuring 2\" high x 2 3/4\" top rim diameter. This exquisite finely painted Japanese Satsuma bowl features a field of Iris flowers on the inside and outside of bowl. The Iris flowers are hand painted in shades of deep purple and dark burgundy and rust colors with sage green and gold gilt. There is a gold gilt top rim and a fine gold gilt band around the bottom.
Signed on the underside is the Shimazu family crest above cartouche with Japanese characters.
Condition is very good. There are no chips, cracks or repairs. There is some light wear that is hard to notice.

This elegant antique Japanese Satsuma signed bowl from the 19thC Meiji period is decorated both interior and exterior body with an Iris floral design is finely painted and with gold gilt enameling. Workmanship is superior on this bowl.
